Born and raised in New York City and educated at Cornell University, Josh fully understands what our modern world has to offer and how technology and comfort play a critical role in our society. Yet Josh also knows from his years traveling the world, exploring traditional cultures, and working at BOSS, that wilderness survival skills and Earth-conscious values must be honored. The profound contributions of indigenous wisdom and the insights gained from sustainable wilderness lifestyles have never been more important to the health and prosperity of Western culture.
Josh now spends much of his time sharing that viewpoint with BOSS clients, the general public, and members of the media. In addition to a growing list of private speaking engagements, Josh has appeared on NBC News, ABC News, CBS News, the Today show, and most recently The Daily Show. He was the host of Digging for the Truth, the record-setting adventure-archaeology series on The History Channel for three seasons. He is now host of Into the Unknown with Josh Bernstein on the Discovery Channel.
Josh is an active member of The Explorers Club, a fellow of the Royal Geographical Society and a patron of the American Museum of Natural HIstory.
Current Residence: Split between Utah and New York
